It is hard to believe 2018 is already
here! With
the new year comes a new leadership board. It
is an honor to serve as your club
president in 2018, along with Susan P. (Past
President), Erin Monroe (Vice President), Paula
Ritchie (Secretary and Newsletter Editor), and
Becki Long (Treasurer). This
club is about YOU and your passion for
photography. It
is important that we hear your voice. Let
us know what we are doing right and what you
would like to see us
do differently.
Many thanks to
Susan P. for her leadership as president over
the past 2 years. She
has done an outstanding job leading our club and
keeping us strong. Thank
you also to Frederic K. for his leadership as
past president over the last
2 years and club president
previous to that. Their service to our club and
community is greatly
appreciated.
We have really big shoes to
fill!
This new year
brings a lot of photography learning experiences
along the way. Outside
of our monthly club meetings, be sure to take
advantage of the scheduled field trips (Blue
Springs in January!) and volunteer
opportunities. We
truly have an amazing group of club members who
are willing to share their knowledge and
experiences with us. I
personally learn something new every time we
meet.

To renew
your membership for 2018, you can go to our
website and use the PayPal button or pay in
January at our meeting. Everyone will
need to fill out a new application form, so
the Club will have up to date information. We
will have forms at the January
Meeting.
If you joined after
October 1, 2017, you membership expires December

Blue
Springs is the winter refuge for the West Indian
Manatee. During manatee season (mid-Nov. to
mid-March), you can walk along the boardwalk by
the river to the spring and watch and photograph
the manatees. Other photo opportunities
include wildlife, the river and the historic
Thursby house built in 1872 during the steamboat
era. Remember to bring a polarizer filter
for your lens to better photograph the
manatees.
Admission
is $6.00 per car (2-8 people) or $4.00 single
person.
After
the shoot we will, of course, have lunch
somewhere. |

the meeting bring 5-7 pictures taken at recent
events or any other recent photos. Bring
your photos on a thumb drive. It is very
helpful if you use the date of the meeting
"Jan
15"
in naming the folders so we can be sure to show
the right ones and to make it easy for our
projectionist.
